恭读依撒意亚先知书 10:5-7, 12a, 13-16
上主这样说：祸哉，亚述！我义怒的木棒，我震怒的棍杖！我派遣她是为攻击一个邪恶的百姓，我委任她是为攻击我所愤恨的民族，为掳掠劫夺，并为蹂躏他们，有如街上的粪土。但亚述并没有这样想，心里也没有这样推测，只图肆意破坏，剿灭不少的民族。
当我主对熙雍山和耶路撒冷完成了他的一切工作时，必要惩罚心高气傲的亚述王，因为亚述王曾说过：“我完成了这一切，全凭我的手和我的智慧，因为我是聪明的；我撤除了各族的界限，掳掠了他们的财宝，有如强者打倒了居于高位的人。我的手夺取了列国的财富，有如取诸窝巢；我兼并了大地，有如拾取遗卵，没有谁敢反抗或张口鼓噪。”
上主说：斧头岂能对用斧头砍伐的人自豪？锯岂能向拉锯的人自夸？难道棍杖能挥动那举它的人？木棒能举起那不是木头的人？因此我主，万军的天主，将使亚述的勇士变得瘦弱，她的光辉将被焚毁，有如炎炎烈火。
Reading 1
A reading from the book of the Prophet Isaiah 10:5-7, 13B-16
Thus says the LORD:
Woe to Assyria! My rod in anger,
my staff in wrath.
Against an impious nation I send him,
and against a people under my wrath I order him
To seize plunder, carry off loot,
and tread them down like the mud of the streets.
But this is not what he intends,
nor does he have this in mind;
Rather, it is in his heart to destroy,
to make an end of nations not a few.
For he says:
“By my own power I have done it,
and by my wisdom, for I am shrewd.
I have moved the boundaries of peoples,
their treasures I have pillaged,
and, like a giant, I have put down the enthroned.
My hand has seized like a nest
the riches of nations;
As one takes eggs left alone,
so I took in all the earth;
No one fluttered a wing,
or opened a mouth, or chirped!”
Will the axe boast against him who hews with it?
Will the saw exalt itself above him who wields it?
As if a rod could sway him who lifts it,
or a staff him who is not wood!
Therefore the Lord, the LORD of hosts,
will send among his fat ones leanness,
And instead of his glory there will be kindling
like the kindling of fire.

恭读圣玛窦福音 11:25-27
那时候，耶稣发言说：“父啊！天地的主宰！我称谢你，因为你将这些事瞒住了智慧和明达的人，而启示给小孩子。是的，父啊！你原来喜欢这样。我父将一切交给了我，除了父外，没有人认识子；除了子和子所愿意启示的人外，也没有人认识父。”

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 11:25-27
At that time Jesus exclaimed:
“I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for although you have hidden these things
from the wise and the learned
you have revealed them to the childlike.
Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.
All things have been handed over to me by my Father.
No one knows the Son except the Father,
and no one knows the Father except the Son
and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”
