Third Sunday of Lent
读经一
恭读出谷纪 17:3-7
那时候，百姓在旷野里非常口渴，就抱怨梅瑟说：“你为什么从埃及领我们上来？难道要使我们、我们的子女和牲畜，都渴死吗？”梅瑟向上主呼号说：“我要怎样对待这百姓呢？他们几乎就要用石头砸死我了！”
上主回答梅瑟说：“你到百姓面前，带上几个以色列长老，手中拿着你击打尼罗河的棍杖！看，我要站在你面前，在曷勒布的一块磐石上；你击打那磐石，就有水流出来，给百姓喝。”
梅瑟就在以色列的长老眼前，照样做了。
梅瑟称那地方为玛撒和默黎巴，因为以色列子民在那里争吵过，并试探过上主说：“上主是否在我们中间？”
Reading 1
A reading from the Book of Exodus 17:3-7
In those days, in their thirst for water,
the people grumbled against Moses,
saying, “Why did you ever make us leave Egypt?
Was it just to have us die here of thirst
with our children and our livestock?”
So Moses cried out to the LORD,
“What shall I do with this people?
a little more and they will stone me!”
The LORD answered Moses,
“Go over there in front of the people,
along with some of the elders of Israel,
holding in your hand, as you go,
the staff with which you struck the river.
I will be standing there in front of you on the rock in Horeb.
Strike the rock, and the water will flow from it
for the people to drink.”
This Moses did, in the presence of the elders of Israel.
The place was called Massah and Meribah,
because the Israelites quarreled there
and tested the LORD, saying,
“Is the LORD in our midst or not?”

恭读圣保禄宗徒致罗马人书 5:1-2, 5-8
弟兄姐妹们：
我们既因信德成义，便是借我们的主耶稣基督，与天主和好了。借着耶稣，我们得以因着信德，进入了现今所站立的这恩宠中，并因希望分享天主的光荣，而欢跃。
望德不叫人蒙羞，因为天主的爱，借着所赐与我们的圣神，已倾注在我们心中了。当我们还在软弱的时候，基督就在指定的时期，为不虔敬的人死了。为义人死，是罕有的事；为善人，或许有敢死的；但是，基督在我们还是罪人的时候，就为我们死了，这证明天主怎样爱了我们。
Reading 2
A reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans 5:1-2, 5-8
Brothers and sisters:
Since we have been justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have gained access by faith
to this grace in which we stand,
and we boast in hope of the glory of God.
And hope does not disappoint,
because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
For Christ, while we were still helpless,
died at the appointed time for the ungodly.
Indeed, only with difficulty does one die for a just person,
though perhaps for a good person one might even find courage to die.
But God proves his love for us
in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.

恭读圣若望福音 4:5-42
那时候，耶稣来到撒玛黎雅的一座城，名叫息哈尔，靠近雅各伯给他儿子若瑟的庄田；在那里有“雅各伯井”。耶稣走累了，就顺便坐在井旁；那时，大约是第六时辰。
有一个撒玛黎雅妇人来打水。耶稣向她说：“请给我一点水喝！”那时，耶稣的门徒都到城里，去买食物。
那撒玛黎雅妇人就回答说：“你既是犹太人，怎么向我一个撒玛黎雅妇人要水喝呢？”原来，犹太人和撒玛黎雅人一向不相往来。
耶稣回答那妇人说：“如果你知道天主的恩赐，并知道向你说『给我水喝』的人是谁，你或许早就会求他，而他也早就赐给了你活水。”
那妇人问说：“先生，你连打水器也没有，而井又深，你从那里取得那活水呢？难道你比我们的祖先雅各伯还大吗？他留给了我们这口井；他和他的子孙，以及他的牲畜，都曾喝过这井里的水。”
耶稣回答说：“凡喝这水的，还要再渴；但谁若喝了我赐给他的水，他将永远不渴；并且我赐给他的水，将在他内，成为涌到永生的水泉。”
妇人说：“先生，请给我这水吧！免得我再渴，也免得我再来这里打水。”
耶稣向那妇人说：“去，叫你的丈夫，再回到这里来。”
那妇人回答说：“我没有丈夫。”
耶稣说：“你说：我没有丈夫，正对；因为你曾有过五个丈夫，而你现在有的，也不是你的丈夫。你说得真对。”
妇人向耶稣说：“先生，我看你是个先知。我们的祖先一向在这座山上，朝拜天主，你们却说：应该朝拜的地方，是在耶路撒冷。”
耶稣回答说：“女人，你相信我吧！到了时候，你们将不在这座山，也不在耶路撒冷，朝拜父。你们朝拜你们所不认识的，我们朝拜我们所认识的，因为救恩出自犹太人。然而，时候要到，且现在就是，那些真正朝拜的人，将以心神以真理朝拜父，因为父就是寻找这样朝拜他的人。天主是神，朝拜他的人，应当以心神以真理去朝拜他。”
妇人说：“我知道默西亚（意即基督）要来；他一来了，必会告诉我们一切。”
耶稣向那妇人说：“同你谈话的我就是。”
正在这时，耶稣的门徒回来了，他们就惊奇耶稣同一个妇人谈话；但是，没有人问：“你要什么？”或：“你同她谈论什么？”
于是，那妇人放下自己的水罐，往城里去，向人说：“你们来看！有一个人，说出了我所做过的一切事；莫非他就是默西亚吗？”
于是，众人都从城里出来，到耶稣那里去。
这其间，门徒请求耶稣说：“辣彼，吃吧！”
耶稣却回答说：“我已有食物吃了，那是你们所不知道的。”
门徒便彼此问说：“难道有人给他送来了食物吗？”
耶稣向门徒说：“我的食物，就是承行派遣我者的旨意，完成他的工程。
“你们不是说：还有四个月，才到收获期吗？看，我对你们说：举目看看这些田地，庄稼已经发白，可以收割了。收割的人已领到工资，且为永生收集了果实，如此，撒种的和收割的，将一同喜欢。正如俗语所说的：撒种的是一人，收割的是另一人。我派遣你们，在你们没有劳动过的地方，去收割；别人劳动了，而你们去收获他们劳苦的成果。”
城里有许多撒玛黎雅人，信从了耶稣，因为那妇人作证说：“他向我说出了我所做过的一切。”这样，那些撒玛黎雅人，来到耶稣面前，请求耶稣在他们那里住下；耶稣就在那里住了两天。还有更多的人，因为耶稣的宣讲，而信从了耶稣。他们向那妇人说：“现在我们信，不是因为你的话，而是因为我们亲自听见了，并知道：他确实是世界的救主。”
Gospel
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John 4:5-42
Jesus came to a town of Samaria called Sychar,
near the plot of land that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.
Jacob’s well was there.
Jesus, tired from his journey, sat down there at the well.
It was about noon.
A woman of Samaria came to draw water.
Jesus said to her,
“Give me a drink.”
His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.
The Samaritan woman said to him,
“How can you, a Jew, ask me, a Samaritan woman, for a drink?”
—For Jews use nothing in common with Samaritans.—
Jesus answered and said to her,
“If you knew the gift of God
and who is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink, ‘
you would have asked him
and he would have given you living water.”
The woman said to him,
“Sir, you do not even have a bucket and the cistern is deep;
where then can you get this living water?
Are you greater than our father Jacob,
who gave us this cistern and drank from it himself
with his children and his flocks?”
Jesus answered and said to her,
“Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again;
but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst;
the water I shall give will become in him
a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
The woman said to him,
“Sir, give me this water, so that I may not be thirsty
or have to keep coming here to draw water.”
Jesus said to her,
“Go call your husband and come back.”
The woman answered and said to him,
“I do not have a husband.”
Jesus answered her,
“You are right in saying, ‘I do not have a husband.’
For you have had five husbands,
and the one you have now is not your husband.
What you have said is true.”
The woman said to him,
“Sir, I can see that you are a prophet.
Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain;
but you people say that the place to worship is in Jerusalem.”
Jesus said to her,
“Believe me, woman, the hour is coming
when you will worship the Father
neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
You people worship what you do not understand;
we worship what we understand,
because salvation is from the Jews.
But the hour is coming, and is now here,
when true worshipers will worship the Father in Spirit and truth;
and indeed the Father seeks such people to worship him.
God is Spirit, and those who worship him
must worship in Spirit and truth.”
The woman said to him,
“I know that the Messiah is coming, the one called the Christ;
when he comes, he will tell us everything.”
Jesus said to her,
“I am he, the one speaking with you.”
At that moment his disciples returned,
and were amazed that he was talking with a woman,
but still no one said, “What are you looking for?”
or “Why are you talking with her?”
The woman left her water jar
and went into the town and said to the people,
“Come see a man who told me everything I have done.
Could he possibly be the Christ?”
They went out of the town and came to him.
Meanwhile, the disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat.”
But he said to them,
“I have food to eat of which you do not know.”
So the disciples said to one another,
“Could someone have brought him something to eat?”
Jesus said to them,
“My food is to do the will of the one who sent me
and to finish his work.
Do you not say, ‘In four months the harvest will be here’?
I tell you, look up and see the fields ripe for the harvest.
The reaper is already receiving payment
and gathering crops for eternal life,
so that the sower and reaper can rejoice together.
For here the saying is verified that ‘One sows and another reaps.’
I sent you to reap what you have not worked for;
others have done the work,
and you are sharing the fruits of their work.”
Many of the Samaritans of that town began to believe in him
because of the word of the woman who testified,
“He told me everything I have done.”
When the Samaritans came to him,
they invited him to stay with them;
and he stayed there two days.
Many more began to believe in him because of his word,
and they said to the woman,
“We no longer believe because of your word;
for we have heard for ourselves,
and we know that this is truly the savior of the world.”
